School starts

Friday July 7th, 2007

Tip of the day: Don’t expect to learn Chinese overnight
Achievement of the day: I know how to say “it is never going to happen” in Chinese.

I have to go back to last night since it is the first time we actually had REAL Chinese food in our life (forgive me Mr. Hutman you will understand) I need to get into the details:
1. Fish was great! I got a whole fresh fish at the supermarket (carp??) WOW. Even Udi had some and it was not a steak!
2. The French fries were Chinese fries – potatoes and onions. Not too bad.
3. Cucumber and eggs??? Interesting as Danny would say.
4. Mixed vegetables - Michal knows the names of the vegetables I can tell you it was all green color so what do we men know without the list for Ralph?!
5. Soup – water + potatoes and other – WOW!

....and I thought Iam going to lose weight.... sorry

Take a look at the pictures we actually went back to the market this morning...for couple of minutes....

Classes started yesterday. We have joined the Dalian University for Foreign Languages. It is the 1964 model of the local university. Not all the 1964 models are great. The corridors are...or maybe we should skip to the bathrooms ..oh no!..or maybe we should skip to the classrooms...A/C is unknown commodity

The kids are getting into the swing of things and we are still struggling with ABC or Wo bu Chi. (I dont want to eat)

To anyone that thought otherwise we have vegetarian Chulent ready. Everyone(especially David) is invited. It is not ’Made in China’ it is ‘Made here’. Ooops I guess it is the same we are after all in China. Slow cooker and everything. More info on the food will come in the next writing. The Chalot are here, (i actually helped to make them at 3AM) so is the cake. We might even have the local shul choir join us for Kabalat Shabbat. Sorry, I have got to check the local Gym now. I promised someone very special before I left that I will do so at least once during our stay so I will stop here and get it out of the way.
